Favorite jazz station : www.wbgo.org

I like small venues with seating and good sound (good food is nice too).  My favorites are Joe's Pub,  S.O.B.'s, The Blue Note, Iridium, Highline Ballroom, Hiro Ballroom, Society for Ethical Culture, Housing Works Used Book Cafe and The Beacon Theatre.  Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall should go without saying. (Fez, Satalla and The Bottom Line R.I.P.)

I also like Town Hall and BB King's Blues Club although the sound can be iffy in both. Venues with little or no seating but good bookings include Bowery Ballroom & Webster Hall.

Outside the City I like Tarrytown Music Hall, The Turning Point in Piermont, The State and Crossroads Theatres in New Brunswick, NJPAC, Community Theater in Morristown, Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair, Sanctuary Concerts in Chatham, Union County Arts Center in Rahway and Pollock Auditorium at Monmouth University.
